Augusta Matters

This is something I always forget about, but it is a great service – the city’s winter sand program. Every winter, sand is available at no cost for residents.

Residents may pick up two buckets (5 gallons or less) of winter sand from Public Works, with a limit of two buckets per day. You must provide your own buckets and this is for residents only, not business or commercial use. Please go to the office and ask permission. Winter sand is available late-November to mid-April.

Also, the city’s Age-Friendy Committee has started a Sand Buckets for Seniors home delivery program.  It is available for residents 60 years and older with disabilities, under 60 years of age with a physical disability, or someone with no one to help them pick up a bucket of sand.
